The management of St. Dominic Nursery and Primary School, Kwali, Abuja, actually sees culture as a way of life, creating mutual understanding and unity and deemed it necessary to organize a cultural day for the pupils of the school.
At the Mass to kick-start the event, the Assistant Parish Priest of St. Dominic Parish, Kwali, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Okpara pointed out that our cultural diversity is divine, aimed at uniting us together as children of God. He commended the management of the school under the leadership of Rev. Sr. Martina Umeora, SSH, for the training, love and care they are giving to the pupils of the school and prayed God to strengthen them the more.
Fr. Kenneth equally commended the parents of the children for obeying their divine call by bringing out their children to be trained despite the training they are giving to them at home, pointing out that, the love and care of God for all of us is more than what we can give to anyone and so called for total obedience and loyalty to God.
He pointed out that, the unity in our cultural diversity can be referenced to the different tribes coming together to learn in the school freely and peacefully without any problem. He then prayed that God should take away every form of demarcation, guide and protect them all the days of their life.
At the Mass, the Headmistress of the school, Rev. Sr. Martina Umeora SSH, on behalf of the school management, thanked Fr. Kenneth for celebrating the Mass for them. She expressed gratitude to the parents who came to celebrate with them.
In celebrating the cultural day proper, various tribes like the Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Igala, Edo/Delta and the Gwari’s were all on hand to showcase their culture. These tribes also prepared their various delicacies, displayed their tribal dances, songs and dramas.
Representatives of the Chairman of Kwali Area Council and Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Danlami Kakatsu expressed happiness with what he saw and promised to relate everything to the Chairman of the Area Council, adjoining the school to be the best among the Primary schools in the Area Council and so urged the management of the school to maintain the tempo.
Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Friday Odey, in a vote of thanks appreciated God for the Success of the whole event and prayed a safe journey for all those who participated in the event. Similarly, the Principal of the school, Rev. Sr. Martina Umeora SSH gave God all the glory as she thanked all those who joined hands together to make the event a successful one.
